Re-paint wall to a more appealing color. Add artwork to wall or furniture in front. Re-paint cabinets to get a uniform color. Lots of You Tube videos available, or discuss with paint store. Cabinets need to be clean and have hardware removed before painting.
RePaint walls in a NEUTRAL color... gray, taupe, beige... You can do this will the cabinets:

Light, location, furnishings, room size, taste etc all play a part in any decorating scheme. It would help if we could see a picture of your room. Given those parameters though, it seems to me the most effective way of making a visual impact would be a single picture or quilt or wall hanging of some kind. As to color, I personally am not a fan of yellow, and my own house is small roomed with lots of broken wall spaces, so I choose white, but many colors could be lovely. The color chosen could be compatible with furniture colors or rug colors.
Create a gallery wall with medium - large photographs, posters, prints. Leave plenty of space around the gallery area, and hang the pictures fairly close to each other - 4-6". Try to maintain a regular edge around the gallery. Keep frames the same color and use a variation of sizes. This will produce an illusion of one large piece of art. If your wall is way too large, try making two smaller galleries, with some space between them. You can try this idea out by cutting some square and rectangular pieces of newspaper & lightly taping to the wall in a grid the way you might arrange your images.
