The easiest bang for your buck is to paint the furniture white if possible. That would be a great pop against the dark walls. :)
With the furniture dark you might want a real light wall like light grey or or light brown. Also, decorate with lighter colored drapes, sheers, and bedspread. Maybe use mirrors. I have dark furniture and use a 3 mirror set that are connected in black scroll metal, so I lightly "bronzed" it to match my head board with has the same and came with the light bronze look on it. Dee, hope these ideas help. Bright colored throw pillows also help.
Go with lighter paint and lighter bedding.. It will be a great combination of dark and light. Good luck!
I would purchase a bed set that picks up the khaki but has some white or pale tones to give you some pop..... https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=bed+set+with+khaki+print&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 You could also go with the all white down bed set for a luxurious look.
Add some art on the wall with lighter matting and/or frames to brighten it.
When you pick your lampshades for bedside lamps pick up that lighter tone. Good lighting will bring life to the room.
Even adding an area rug under the bed will brighten it up.
Add mirrors and lighting, light colored bedding, and add lighter colors as much as possible.
Painting the walls is going to be a lot easier than painting the dark furniture.
