How well does polyurethane hold up when used in the kitchen?
I want to refinish my countertops and backsplash and all the ideas in the crafty-sphere say to pain then use polyurethane as a top coat. Some even say to use urethane recommended for floors. My concern is the exposure to heat from the stove and anything set on it. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Do painted kitchen countertops hold up in a rental home
I own a rental home. I am trying to update the peach colored counters in kitchen. Does painting them hold up with tenants use.
I don't know about kitchen counters, but if water is left on my floor, ( ice cubes i didn't see), the poly turned white and it took over 3 weeks to dry. It did become clear again, thank goodness.
You can't put hot items directly on the countertop. You will burn it.
I've never seen on countertops or backsplash but have seen on kitchen cabinets which are near same heat with great success.
Hey Leslie!! Check into epoxy for your countertop resurfacing! I did this to ours using stonecoat countertops epoxy. They have TONS of youtube tutorial videos. And Epoxy is much more durable.
