What goes with pine green?

Rebecca on Nov 10, 2014I think the key is to pull in a few accessories elsewhere in the room that have some of that green, even if they're not solid colored. If the sofa is the only green piece, it will look like a mistake and be the first thing anyone sees. I have a BIG green sofa (which I love) and have used throw pillows with a touch of it on a pair of chairs as well as a decorative bowl. My room is mostly neutral with dark woodwork, but I think the plan would work just as well with a lighter or brighter color scheme, whichever makes your mom happy.Helpful Reply

Rebecca on Nov 10, 2014I was just thinking...green, navy, gold, burgundy = very "Ralph Lauren" look. Green, coral, cream = very soft modern look. Green, brown, tan = natural! even woodsy look. I could go on and on...Helpful Reply

Jan Loehr on Nov 11, 2014Well you can accessorize all around the pine green sofa but you will still see the largest piece in the room as GREEN. Did you know you can paint fabric on furniture to completely change the color? It is a bit of work but not difficult at all. There are tons of photos on the internet of before and after chairs painted with acrylic paint from the home improvement stores! I myself just finished an antique armchair which had red fabric & wooden curved arms & did the fabric in a deep gray & the arms/legs in an off white. Change was stunning! If you are so inclined to consider this to help your Mom, there are tutorials along with photos I mentioned....then you can give her place a whole new fresh look instead of just trying to pretend the green sofa isn't there. Best of Luck!Helpful Reply

Kelly on Nov 12, 2014Plum is a great accent with Green and makes it look much richer. Use a muted plum if you want it softer.Helpful Reply

Narcissa on Jan 25, 2015If she likes Victorian or Country French. I would go with soft rose, cabbage rose print with some blue toile even creamywhite and rose stripes too. Laura Ashley style. That would really be beautiful. Take a cream throw, place over part of the couch add pillows . I would Love it...Helpful Reply

Country Design Home on Jan 25, 2015Since you are in Florida, how about a tropical or ocean theme using shades of blues and greens. You don't say what style sofa it is, but I'm guessing its a skirted two or three-cushioned sofa with some squared edges. Soften those up with soft blue and aqua pillows, add a chunky white cotton knitted throw, sisal rug and some ocean-themed artwork. If you add some creamy white painted furniture that will lighten up the room as well.Helpful Reply

Cloudrider53 on Jan 26, 2015There are a lot of variations of green, I would go with the more blue than green kind of green. Such as mint green or turquoise and add white to it. Also, try textured throw pillows in white and light blue. Put something interesting on the wall, which will draw your eyes away from the couch. If all else fails get a slip cover in a color that she loves.Helpful Reply
