So your electric panel doesn't work? Did you have an inspector look at the house before you bought it?

Broke in what kind of way?...loose door or failed breakers etc. if it is the latter getting an electrician in to do proper repairs would be my first suggestion. Electrial fire are one of the leading causes of home fires.

I would get 2 licensed electricians to give you bids to bring your panel box up to code. Until you get a professional opinion keep the panel box door closed at all times to help prevent a fire.
