Looking for Regency Era Christmas tree ornaments, any ideas?

Birdie Berghuis on Jan 10, 2015According to what I have read about Jane Austen, that era did not decorate trees for Christmas. It was all about the family and doing things together. But, I will continue to find more info. What a puzzle for you!Helpful Reply

Rita Lovestosingknitread on Jan 10, 2015You are right, only the royal family and Anglo/Germans had a tree. We'll be doing an homage to Jane. So I'm looking for ornaments/crafts that have a regency feel or mini books that we could decorate to look like P&P or S&S or Emma etc.Helpful Reply

Rose H on Jan 10, 2015Tussiemuzzies, the little hand held vases of flowers that the women carried to balls would be pretty on the tree, and also replecations of dance cards.Helpful Reply

Pat on Jan 11, 2015A circle of fabric edged in lace and gathered up around a styrofoam ball and tied with ribbon is very pretty. You can tuck fabric flowers into the tie as well as beads or whatever fancy things yu desire.Helpful Reply

Shira on Jan 11, 2015Whenever I think of Jane Austen, I think of books, embroidery (seems that they are always embroidering in her era), lace, flowers (@Rose H love the tussiemuzzie idea!), bonnets and soldier accessories (from that time period). Sounds like such a cool project can't wait to see the finished project!Helpful Reply
