What color should I use for this couch?

I bought this tiny sofa for super cheap. I'm going to reupholster, slipcover it, dye it, or something, but what color? The room it is going to go in is is black, whites, and woods mostly but the curtains I plan on putting in there are bubble gum pink. I am not afraid of color but I am but sure I want to go too bold. I also have an infant that will soon be a toddler. So I need to keep that in mind as well. Thoughts? Ideas?

I saw someone on this site used nice looking canvas drop cloths for the fabric . It looked like a taupe or burlap color....not sure. You could also use mover's quilts, super durable. Use newspaper or similar, or tear apart the covers for a pattern. She even reused the zippers. Couldn't find the post. Looked fabulous. You might want to buy new foam for the pillows. Surefit has some cool easy covers and with new foam, like new! Have fun!

@Linda Barrett Dirksen I also saw using painter's drop cloth as slipcovers, looks great! I would think they would be machine washable....great for a toddler in the house :)

A thought how about a very dark version of bubble gum pink. If your going with black and white it seems like a good contrast.

A bright yellow would look great. Even a buffalo print!

Black and white buffalo check...it already looks good in the check so just change to black and white but maybe the ruffled pillow has seen better days...good luck.

If fabric in good shape i would keep it the way it is a pop of color.

You can paint your love seat with fabric paint. One thing to remember, a neutral couch/love seat can coordinate with most colors. It's the accessories that gives the "punch" you're looking for and it is so much cheaper to replace a pillow, curtains, etc., as opposed to a large piece of furniture. Good luck!

Karen Criner nailed it. Keep couch neutral and add color with pillows. Few years down the road all you have to do is add diff color pillows for a change if you redecorate.

@Sue Sanders Thanks Sue! Once I seen a red couch but it was a subtle red and it was pulling at my heart strings. I WANTED it so bad. Ended up with a neutral color which has served me well...I still want that red couch! hahaha!

Could go a shade of grey in a tweed look.

Absolutely a neutral and since a toddler will soon inhabit the sofa, use Micro suede or Ultra suede. You can wash any stain off of it with soap and water. Taupe would be a good color.

Prints are better than solids. Don't show stains as well,

A floral pattern picking up the colors of black,,white and esp the pink in the curtains.

Go with a solid color and find something that resists stains. Not sure if you can use this type of product over paint. Check it out. Make notes and take your time. I so hope your couch turns out well.

I agree with Jan Herman. Absolutely needs to be a print and have some pale pink or bubble gum pink in it to go with the curtains and black...black and pink are awesome together.
