Should I change colors?

Moxie on Sep 05, 2015If you want to change colors, you should. Painting a room always makes them feel new again. You might try painting one wall and leaving the trim white and see if you like it before painting the trim black.Helpful Reply

Patti Przybylinski on Sep 06, 2015Hi Tammy, I agree with the group: please don't paint the trim black. Especially if you ever have plans to sell your house. White trim is so clean and will help reflect light. Without a picture of your room, using my recent experience, I would try a ivory color (I recently repainted our living room with Clark & Kensington Ivory with white trim--this paint is both primer and paint so should do a good job covering your dark green). As with you, my accents are black and the room looks sophisticated and calm. Have fun with your transformation! Kindly, Patti P.Helpful Reply

Lucy Nunn on Sep 06, 2015I took my living room from chocolate brown to creamy griege color, and it looked like a new house! A breath of fresh air. Do the lightening up part! Maybe not the black though.Helpful Reply

Sassy on Sep 06, 2015Tan/cream walls were really big in the 1990s...what about looking at a soft, pale gray with white trim? Modern colors but still neutral and your black furniture would look great against it. Then you could easily change the color scheme using pops of color with pillows, throws and other decor items. I agree with everyone else...don't paint the trim black - that would make a really harsh line and definitely not good for resale!Helpful Reply

Marianne Kleber on Sep 06, 2015Gray walls with white trim with black furniture is stunning. Pillows in bright colors and accessories could be changed periodically for a quick pick me up Also silver or mercury glass is good too. Would be hard to get tired of this easily updated look.Helpful Reply

Susanpoole1711 on Sep 06, 2015Definitely use the gray and white combo w/ your accents being the color. don't paint the trim black!!. Your black furniture is the grounding factor in your room too much black will be too heavy and make you uncomfortable to be in the room.Helpful Reply
