I bought an old Dutch oven at a garage sale & found they had drained engine oil into it. As it only cost me $5 not much to loose! Built a big fire in our fire pit & surrounded the pot with hot coals inside & out. Burned off all the old nasties, removed when cool & reseasoned & it's as good as new! Hope it helps!
Put it on top of the stove and boil water. Should get off quite a lot. You can scrub the remainder with salt. Then cure again. Good luck.

Burning it off is the way folks used to do it as Mlcedwards28 said, but I've heard others say they put it in the self cleaning oven and ran it through a cycle. It's gonna stink! but should burn it off. Then you will need to re-season.
A copper scrubbie - NOT a regular scouring pad. . Also course salt like Kosher or course sea salt.
