we had a corner shelf unit made for showers and when my husband put it in the shower he put it on some non-slip stuff and when I got rid of it there was the mold in the corner.

Hello Barbara. Black mold is toxic and extremely harmful if you breathe it in. Typically black mold is best eliminated by a professional because they have been trained to do it properly. They wear a hazmat suit to prevent the mold spores from clinging to their skin. They also wear a face mask to prevent their breathing in the spores. Once they eliminate the mold, they apply a preventative to reduce the likelihood that it will return. Hopefully, you have a fan in your bathroom to reduce moisture. Mold feeds on moisture. Call Home Advisir in your area to contact a mold removal specialist. Good luck!

Not all black mold is toxic, (research it on line: https://moldmanusa.com/the-truth-about-toxic-black-mold-its-probably-not-what-you-think/ ), and it's likely the mold you have is a result of the area never completely drying out. The solution that has worked for me in getting rid of shower mold: Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner in the blue bottle. Slight dampen the spot of mold, press wadded up toilet paper or a paper towel onto the surface and saturate with the toilet bowl cleaner. It's more like a gel than a liquid. Leave it on the surface for several hours but don't let it dry out (I've covered it with plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out), then remove and rinse. Repeat if necessary.
