How do I clean the sticky film on wire shelves?
Closet Maid wire shelving that has been in place for several years has developed an overall sticky film. Anyone know how to remove the film so I don’t have to replace them? Worst ones are in garage but inside ones are showing same issue.

Jan, I would wipe it down first with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to get the major amount of stickiness off, followed by a wipe down with Windex (use an old t-shirt for this).
A product called GooGone removes sticky residue quite effectively. It's strong smelling (non toxic, but smelly), though, so you'll want to clean with hot soapy water afterward. Or you can first try rubbing some coconut oil on the shelves because I've personally found this to work just as well, in many cases, without the lingering smell of GooGone. You'll still want to wash the coconut oil off afterwards, the same as with GooGone, but it washes off easier and has a more pleasant smell.

If they are small, put thru dishwasher. Otherwise warm water and dawn dish soap out in your driveway or some automotive grease/bug release.
