I bought a pretty holiday round tablecloth, cut a slit from the center to the edge then just overlap the cut edge in the back of my tree. If you sew you could add Velcro down your cut edge to hold it tight. Just pull your tablecloths center at the slit up over your tree stand then you can either overlap your cut edges, use safety pens in back to hold the slit together or apply Velcro down the cut edge to hold your slit edges.

Many thrift stores sell fabric. This could be a cost effective way to quickly 'make' a tree skirt cover, by draping the fabric around the tree stand.

Try using an old or even new wash tub ,take out the bottom turn it upside down then spray paint. I put gold cording around to make it look like a drum then glossy fancy buttons at each point top and bottom really cute and hides the tree stand quite well.
