Hello Rita, Try to hang it on the studs, which are about 16 inches apart. Your clip board will hold up, it you screw it into the studs. Find a stud by knocking on the wall, when it sounds like your knocking on wood, that's your stud. Find the next stud at 16 inches, from the first. Position the board so it's even. Use a level to see that it's straight. Then screw it in, at the top and bottom of the board.

That is a super cute piece! What if you had it on a console table or entry way table? You could style some candles around it or plants :)

I would spray paint with 2 different colors.... every other put tape down It to make it easier, hang purse, hat, keys, ect...or you could buy some wood and gethard ware to make 3 shelves....that would be nice to or 2 shelves with leaving the bottom one for hooks ?

It’s difficult to tell because of the painting, but it may be an old library catalog “card” cabinet. Is it the whole thing, about 6-12 inches deep, or is it just the front?

The front slots would would hold the typed section of the alphabet; the inside would hold the catalog index cards. It is most likely solid oak which is why it’s so heavy.

If you’ve the patience, it would be handsome stripped of paint.

Possible uses? Spice and kitchen gadget cabinet. Craft room organizer for thread and other “fixing”. Tool and parts organizer for garage or serious fisherman.
