Save yourself some money and headaches (maybe backaches, too) . Go ahead and purchase one of the pots in the picture. It will be less expensive in the end and you'll be sure to have a pretty and usable pot.

Yes! you cover a form (such as a plastic flower pot or trash can, with a cloth, apply wet cement, then apply another layer of cloth and wait for it to dry. If you need to make it thicker, let first coat dry, then apply more cement.

They probably used a hypertufa technique. There are some great instructions on Pinteres. Several pins about coloring concrete too. There are dyes/pigments that you can add when cement is wet. or you could water down some latex paint and brush on after it’s dried. Watering it down allows the concrete to absorb the paint rather than just sitting on top.

It looks like to me they used cement stain when making them.

1: Mix the cement to a loose consistency

2: Put part of cement in a different container

3: Add your desired colors of stain into each container and mix thoroughly

4: Drizzle some of one of the colors onto the other color, swirling a LITTLE if desired

5: Dip fabric into swirled cement, making sure it sits in long enough to saturate fabric fibers

6: Drape over plastic covered form or plastic container.

    7: Remove when completely dried.
