How can I decorate a brick wall in my studio?

What can I use to decorate a brick wall in my studio? I wanted to put shelves there but can't hammer a nail in brick. The wall has been painted but the blankness stands out. Any ideas?

    Hardware stores sell brick clips that should help you.

    You can hammer concrete or masonry nails into the mortar between the bricks. Some are wedge shaped, some regular shaped but thick and hardened. I use a 40 oz. hammer and drive them straight in, no problem, they do not need to go very deep to hold.

    You might consider hanging shelves from the ceiling or using a free-standing system. There are screws made especially for brick if you'd rather secure them directly to the wall in question.
