Getting a sewed in tag off new cushion

My brand new chair cushions have a Do-not-remove tag sewed into the seam. How can I remove all of the tag without damaging the cushion?

TRY USING A SEAM RIPPER, ON THE TAG, NOT THE STITCHES!

The stitching perforates the tag. Gently try tearing the tag off at an angle. The tag should tear at the perforations like a check in a checkbook and not disturb the stitching. Otherwise use a razor blade and carefully cut the tag as close to the seam as possible.

William, I was able to get some of the label out with a razor blade & then colored over the residue with a red permanent marker to match the cushion. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

You get a brand new razor blade (the trapezoid or the breakaway kind so there is a point). Kneel on the pillow. Hold the tag taunt. Carefully put the tip of the razor in the first hole of the tag where the stitching goes through. Cut the tag away from the pillow on an angle so not to cut towards your fingers. Be careful not to cut the stitching.

I forgot to mention that once you do this, you have to reach in at the end of the tag, under the stitching with tweezers, grab the tag from the inside of the pillow and slide it out. The less material left on the tag after cutting, the easier this part is.
