I am trying to staple fabric and foam to a plywood panel but the staple does not go all the way in even though I hold the stapler flush against the wood.

Maybe you can hammer it in to get it all the way through

Shoshana, thanks for idea, I used this method last time but the staples ended up flattening-up crooked and not going thru at all. I figured there has to be a better way because I see people on Fuji shows do it so easily. I know there is a truck to it.

      Thank you again👍

Some staple guns have settings for different size staples. Does the staple gun your using have settings? Like 1/2" etc.

StevenSteven, this sounds so obvious it has to work. My stapler can use different size Staples so it makes sense there should be an adjustment knob somwhere.

      Thank you.

my electric staple gun has a red knob you turn for pressure control. i think it is a craftsman. older. are you trying to staple through the foam and fabric? you should be pulling the fabric over the foam and staple on the backside of the wood panel. put one staple in, go to opposite side of item. place another staple keeping fabric taught. do the same on the other sides. work slowly, smoothing out the fabric and don't overstretch it or you will get puckers. good luck.

Mine is only about 5 years old and I made sure to buy a fairly good one (expensive ) so that I could use it for " heavy " jobs.

I don't remember reading about adjusting for the size of the staples but probably I missed that section.

      Thank you .😓😫

I have a DeWALT Stapler/Nailer...it came with some staples and nails...I was doing what you were doing and my staples weren't going through the foam and fabric, so I looked at my staples and noticed I had different length staples, the ones I was using when they wouldn't go through were a little bit longer, I put in the shorter ones and it worked like a charm. So it MIGHT be your staple size...I hope this helps

Mine came with different sizes and the box said it could use various sizes. I actually cut back the foam and attached the fabric and none of this helped. I ended up using upholstery tacks.

I will used all of the above suggestions.

Thank you to all you wonderful people for taking the time to answer a fellow dyi(er).😊
