Be careful using pallets inside - most are treated with dangerous chemicals and should not be used inside - ever.
First check the markings on the pallet to make sure that no dangerous chemicals have been used. You can look up what the letters marked on the pallet mean. Then you'll need to take it apart and pull out all the nails. You then can use it as is or your can sand it and either paint or stain each board. Many people install these by using different lengths which basically means the cut the boards and mix up the lengths. There is a story that came in my email today about a couple who used picket fences in their bathroom. The wood is not the same, but once you've take the pallets apart and sanded the wood, the process is similar. Take a look at this and see if it helps:
