How to separate 3-ply napkins to decoupage

I have some pallets. I want to use the Mod Podge to add 3-ply floral print paper napkins. The directions say to separate the two white sheets and use only the printed part of the napkin. The 2nd white sheet seems impossible to separate. Please help!

A pin should help. Otherwise put it between your fingers and rub it in the same way as you would to open a plastic bag that you would use for your fruit at the grocery store. Another possibility is to put a small amount of salvia on your finger and see if that will help. I know that the perforation of the three layers does create a bond, if you use the pin method, try working from the back of the serviette. Also, take a careful look to see if the perforation goes to the end of the serviette all the way around - all you need is the smallest area where it has not bonded and you can work there.

Moisten your fingers first, then start in the middle of the napkin to start the separation.
