Open that part up and you will find the solar with battery that needs to be replaced.
Harbor Freight sells the rechargeable batteries
YEP! You just need to replace the rechargeable batteries. Definitely cheaper at Harbor Freight Tools. Make sure you wipe any grime off the solar cells.
I did replace battery on one successfully! The other 2 are totally rusted and corroded. Ya can see the wires are all broken. Totally shot!!! But that for battery replacement tip!
These may not work for you. They may be upside down from your requirement. I can't tell from the picture you posted. Good Luck!

Not par of repairs but you may want to add a clear finish to keep any more rust from further damaging the lanterns. Check with local paint store for recommendations.
That's great! Hope they work. The lights are gorgeous!
I find those dollar store solar lights are good for so many things... unscrew the tops and put anywhere you want to get solar light. :)
Michaels craft store has these things, I know they have the inserts for mason jars, but I replaced on of my hanging lanterns with the mason joe insert and it worked just fine. Also amazon has different types

You are certainly welcome. I've had to rehab a few of mine too.
Patricia - did you EVER find an (almost exact) replacement for that solar light? I have been looking for the very same one, with no luck... (and it's NOT the batteries that are bad, sadly). If so, DO TELL where you found one??
Patricia - were you able to find the round solar replacement light that you were searching for? If anyone knows where to find them please let me know as I need to replace several myself.

I have the same lantern but the plastic fell apart. Do you now where I can get replacement
Patricia, Les, were you ever able to find the solar light with the bulb on top? I need several too. It is for a Garden Meadow garden owl and flamingo that I bought at Kohl’s a couple years ago. I’ve been looking at Amazon, googled it and never find one with the light on top either. I looked at websites that were suggested but none had what we are needing.
Bottom Solar LED module is what's it's called. They make them for the glass orbs, but they are to big for your application. I spent hours looking for one and can't find it on the web.
Hi Patricia, hope this helps you out.
You can put a new rechargeable battery into that unit.
