Looking for a discontinued king size Ethan Allen bed

by JimB
I would like to upgrade from a queen to a king size bed. I'm trying to locate a king-size Ethan Allen Pediment bed from their discontinued Heirloom Collection (item # 10-5612). Suggestions for locating it are welcome!

I have a suggestion, if you currently have a headboard and foot board on your queen sized bed, take the foot board cut it in half and attach it to either side of the headboard...measuring to make it the right length for a king size bed. Buy a king size bed frame and attach your new head board to the metal frame. You won't have a foot board any longer but you will have a king size head board. I have seen this done before and it looked fabulous. Good luck with your search, sorry I could not be of help with your original request.

Craigslist. You can find beautiful furniture dirt cheap. As most people are very willing to negotiate. (minus the mattress & box spring, never get those used)

Ethan Allen heirloom collection! Good choice! Solid maple, well made, and beautiful. Good taste! Unfortunately, undervalued as well.

Ethan Allen--don't cut or alter it in anyway. In our area it is always the top seller in any auction I have ever been to. I stopped at $1500.00 for a dresser and it went much higher. I wanted to have it to match our twin-bunk beds. I am still wishing I had bought it anyway. Still looking for a dresser. Good luck on your search.

@Beth Thanks for the information wrt to value. We certainly do not want to harm the set.

DO NOT CUT YOUR FOOTBOARD. THIS BED WILL NOT LOOK RIGHT WITH NO FOOTBOARD. Possibly you cannot do the following to remedy your problem. But I was able one time to use my same headboard and footboard to convert from a double to a queen bed. Had to get new side rails in order to use a queen mattress. This was not a conversion that was easily noticed - perhaps only noticed when one was making the bed, if even then.

@Gloria tulip Thanks for your response. We'll keep on looking. The idea of matching the Queen set with a King box spring/mattress might work.

Good heck! Do not cut that in half. Your set is probably, give or take, 40 years old. Also, made in USA.

@Marion Lansford For sure that would be a drastic move. We'll keep looking. If unsuccessful we can opt for the queen set with king mattress and see how that works.
