Make Two Throw Pillow Inserts - From One Bed Pillow!
I wanted to reuse my tired old down pillow without coping with the down. Here’s what I did... I folded the pillow in half and shook it down very well so that the down was equally at the two ends. Then I sewed two seams across the middle of the pillow leaving a gap between the two seams to use as my cutting line.
I sewed it two or three times the cut the pillow in half!
have your vacuum cleaner ready when you cut as there will be stray down. Some will stick to the ticking. Vacuum the seams well. Shake the two smaller cushions into shape and then make your covers to fit.
Nothing quite so luxurious as a down cushion. Unless it’s a down pillow!
This system wouldn’t work as easily for a fibre fill pillow as it would be too bulky to get under the machine needle. You could sew it by hand but it would probably be easier to just pull the stuffing out.
Good luck.
Is your bed pillow foam, fiberfill, or feathers?
I feathers, divide the feather pillow in half by shaking fairly equally the volume of feathers, then pin and cut, You then can sew the raw edges shut.
If foam or fiberfill, measure and draw a line at the midsection, then cut on the line, sew the raw edges shut.
