What to do with my rental bathroom mirror

Hey guys! I had a question regarding my bathroom mirror. I hate the look of it and I want to style it some how but I can't remove the lights on the sides as they're bolted into the wall. I just hate the look of it and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!
So, I guess my first question is how much tonyou need this light on your face to do makeup?
second questionis is this plastic or glass? My guess is plastic.
If you can just remove the plastic covers of the lights, maybe you could take them off and replace the bulbs with mild edison lightbulbs that are stylish and it will give them a modern industrial look. You could put some trim around the top and bottom like this renter did that will come off when you need it to:

can you cover the plastic covers? Maybe with tape, like washi tape, or contact paper to change the look of them or block some of the light shining through.
Most people are assuming the bulbs are screw-in and you can just replace them with other decorative bulbs. They are also assuming that the fixture will look fine without the cover. I do not think it will, as the top and bottom flanges that support the cover likely cannot be removed. I do not trust that tape or contact paper would not damage the fixture cover by being difficult to remove.
The best choice would be to replace the fixtures with smaller, narrow sconces. Of course, you would need to get permission, buy the fixtures, install them and cosmetically update the area where the old fixtures were to match the other walls. I know this is not the answer you want, but sometimes there is no cheap and easy way to accomplish a goal. Instead of focusing on the light fixtures, find some other area of the bath to visually enhance.
