Is there such a thing as wrinkle-bubble-crease-free decoupage glue?

Hey everyone! So, I have pretty much given up on decoupage for furniture because I have yet to find the perfect 'bubble-crease-wrinkle-free' medium. I've used Modge Podge (of course), watered-down school glue, Wunda Size, Martha Stewart Decoupage Glue, and several other no name brands from my local crafts store. NONE of these give a truly wrinkle free finish. Does anyone have a solution that really works??? I consider myself a pretty skilled DIY'er, but I have to say that this continues to baffle me...I figure there must be a solution out there in Hometalk land!

I have had frustrations with decoupage also but I think I found an answer for us...Spray both sides of the paper SEVERAL times with Mod Podge Sealer and allow to dry. What happens is the sealers acts as a makeshift barrier, so that the surface of the paper gets glued, but the glue doesn’t soak all the way through the fibers and make a soggy mess (thereby causing the dreaded wrinkles).
You can mist the paper with water but do not get the paper too wet. This is especially important with thinner papers. You can also use a roller. Don’t roll over the top too much though, or you will start to wear the paper away. Allow the paper to dry to the surface BEFORE Mod Podging over it. You MUST apply enough Mod Podge to either the project surface or the paper back. It doesn’t matter what you do, just make sure that you apply a medium layer – not too thin. Apply the paper to the project surface and SMOOTH THOROUGHLY with your fingers or a brayer. Allow this to dry for 15 – 20 minutes and THEN go back and Mod Podge over it to seal.  Tissue paper is going to wrinkle. It’s just going to. It’s part of the fancy effect.

f you have trouble with wrinkles from your decoupage glue then you should try Daily Art. It's what I use and wrinkles are a minimum and sometimes non-existent. I will say some napkins wrinkle a bit and some don't; I don't know why that is but it happens. Rice paper is excellent in not wrinkling and you can work with it very well. I just dampen the paper before I stick it down on a layer of 'podge and top it with more 'podge. I literally will quickly swipe the paper under a running faucet to dampen the whole surface, both sides. Shake off the excess water for a minute, then I apply it to a base of wet mod poge.The paper doesn't stretch or wrinkle anymore since I started doing this. If I'm using home printed images for decoupage or I'm worried about ink run, I hit them with a spray of spar varnish first to keep the ink from running before I dampen the paper. I usually use scrapbooking paper or regular cheap printer paper for my decoupage, so I have no idea how to smooth tissue paper.
