William on Oct 18, 2016Wash the tile before painting to remove any dirt or grease. Make up a mixture of 2 cups of warm water, 1/2 cup of vinegar, and 1 drop of dish detergent in a small plastic container and wiped down the tile with a cotton cloth and the soap mixture. After cleaning the tile give it a final ‘rinse’ and wipe it down with a slightly wet cloth (with just water, no soap) and let it air dry. Tape around the fireplace with the painter’s tape. Run your finger over the edges thoroughly to seal. Prime the tile with KILZ, BIN, or Zinsser primer! May take two coats. Then paint with acrylic paint of your color choice. When the paint has completely dried remove the painter’s tape.Helpful Reply
