Alan on Nov 12, 2016To do it properly you would need to use an Etch primer first, to paint it without an Etch primer you risk a serious paint failure which you would live to regret for ever, Etch primer's do come in spray cans, some people think they will get away with it, but generally the paint will fail it's just a matter of when, an etch primer eats' into the Aluminum surface, where as other paint just sits on the top of the surface therefore failure is a given! just make sure the surface is spotlessly clean and well washed before you paint it, that is most important for any painting, otherwise there will be a barrier between the substrate and the paint.1 marked as helpful Reply
