I would think that a light sanding to give the paint a surface to grip to and then a few light spray coats of Rustoleum. You might consider a coat of some type of polyuthene to protect this if it is outside.Helpful Reply -

Hi Hui, Here's a link that may help. It's for a metal door, but I'm sure the principals are the same. http://community.homedepot.com/howto/DiscussionDetail/What-kind-of-paint-do-I-need-to-use-to-paint-a-metal-door-9065000000004p3Good luck!Helpful Reply -

Is the metal windmill on your door? Or is your door metal and you want to paint a windmill on it? Use acrylics on metal, use Rustoleum rust proofing paint for metal to lay a background color. Then use bottles of acrylic paint to make your design. if you have a metal windmill on your door, you can paint that with acrylic paint as well.Helpful Reply -
