About 5 years ago, we had new front steps and powder coated hand rails installed...well recently I took a good look at them ( I usually use side entrance) and saw they were rusting and chipping..I paid extra because they told me wouldn't rust and chip...what can I do to fix?

You will have to and them down to remove rust and paint chips. Rinse the residue off and allow to completely dry. Then you can Paint them with an outdoor paint for metal and follow once dried with a clear coat to protect the paint from peeling again.

You could contact whoever sold them to you with that guarantee and see if there is a valid warranty .

Sand them down with a gritty sand paper and then a fine grit if wood. If iron then use a steel brush on a drill.

Is the railing inside or outside home? If inside chip off the paint and primer paint, now if nice wood work, real wood put stain and or varnish. If railing outside housed get a power wash and get paint off, let dry and then primer paint and choose colour to finish.
    • They are outside metal railings...but I found the receipt and called the person who did the work and they are coming Friday to take a look...hooray
