a poly resin based paint is best in my book, but it needs to be put down by a licensed professional; you can ask you paint specialist for something similar to the poly-resin based paint.

Hello Lvess28, Your best bet is to use paint especially made for cement. There are a few colors to choose from. You can buy it at your local home improvement stores like Home Depot, Menard's and Lowe's. If you're painting a floor or sidewalk, I recommend screwing a broom handle into the paint roller. That way you can stand and do most of the work. Good luck.

On a floor, epoxy based. Look for "garage paint ". On walls, a good latex will do just fine provided theres no moisture trying to leach thru from the other side. Two coats will make it look great. Gloss is given to paint by adding an enamel. The enamel is also a hardener. More gloss, more damage resistance. If children are involved, like making a kids playroom in a basement, think about blackboard paint for a section of one wall. Also enquire about iron filings to go in the paint to make the blackboard magnet attractive. Double the recommended amount per gallon for good magnetic attraction.

Masonry paint is a good choice for concrete painting because it contains binders that contract and expand with the concrete.
