Hi, I live in Southern California which is described as a “Mediterranean” climate. We have a redwood sided house and used a redwood tinted sealer on our wood. It went on easily and has done a great job for us. I don’t remember the brand but it was an Exterior Wood Siding Water Sealer.😊Helpful Reply -

We have always used Spar Varnish for any wood that will be outdoors (Spar Varnish was developed for use on boat masts and spars... holds up to damp weather)Helpful Reply -

Spar Varnish is a good choice. In fact Marine Spar Varnish is even better. In addition, here is information to consider when painting outdoors when it is hot:http://www.thehomeimprovementadvisor.com/2013/07/11/what-hot-weather-means-for-your-painting-project/Helpful Reply -
