Fabric painting a couch, anyone taking this on?

I fabric painted a chair and it turned out great. I have a micro-fiber black couch and no budget for a new one, the black no longer works for my decor. It's odd shaped and I have not been able to find a slip cover to fit it. Thanks.

As a sewer and crafter, I have a hard time visualizing paint on fabric. I have seen it in theater use though. Is the paint a brush on or spray type? I need to try it.

Textile medium can be mixed with paint and used to paint fabric. I can't share a link right now, but you can search on Google and Pinterest. I'm getting ready to do this on two chairs that are quite old and were faded when I got them. I bought them because I fell in love with their lines. Originally I intended to recover them, but after seeing fabric painted, I went out and bought Textile medium. The fabric is sound without a rip or tear, and I can't wait to get them done.

Though Kristi didn't paint a microfiber sofa, they also can be painted this way. I found other tutorials on painting microfiber, but they weren't as informative as Kristi's was. http://www.hometalk.com/diy/living-room/furniture/painted-upholstered-sofa-3244143

@You're welcome Cindy. Make sure to take before, progress, and after pictures so you can share. I'm sure others will be interested. I've painted two wing chairs, but they were chintz. They won't last forever, but instead of getting out a needle and thread, you just keep some paint handy for any repairs. Hopefully with the type of fabric you're using you won't have any as it's flexible too.
