I have a slightly stained couch (sunscreen) that’s nearly new. I’m considering painting it with chalk paint, but don’t know how to go around the MANY nailheads.

Hi Susan, I think if you paint it all and don't worry about the nailheads it will make the job much easier. Then after painting is dried, just go over the nailheads with a mesh scrubby.
Maybe find stickers that will fit on nail heads (hobby isle) then paint n remove stickers
You can always cover them with wax. Once the paint dries where ever there was wax it will rub right off.
You could also use a Qtip and put some petroleum jelly on the nailheads. The paint won't stick to them and the jelly wipes right off with no real effort.
