How do you make paint crackle
-
Harper Fitzsimmons on Jun 20, 2016Buy a crackling solution at any craft store. Put it on the wood and let it dry before you paint the wood. Next put on the paint and either wait for it to dry or blow dry it. It will crackle as it dries.Helpful Reply

Amy Dyanne Cooper on Jun 20, 2016Simply paint a thin layer of Elmer's glue on your base color, then once dry, paint your second or top color. The paint will crack as it dries and your base color will show through. Be mindful of your brush strokes as those will determine the 'crackle' design.Helpful Reply

Lori on Jun 21, 2016I can't add much beyond all this great advice but wish you well. I love the crackle look, much more than distressing really. I did a dresser once using the craft store kit and although I must have done something wrong because it never did crackle, what it did do was so beautiful and rich looking it became my favourite piece of furniture. It almost looked like patches of leather helter skelter all over but lovely. Sometimes accidents turn out better. :)Helpful Reply

Harper Fitzsimmons on Jun 21, 2016Don't take my advice bc I forgot to say to put the first color of paint on first and then the crackling solution and then the second coat of paint and let it dry. But Amy's advice seems so much better. Use it instead.....Helpful Reply
