is there a way to paint or otherwise finish a piece of wooden furniture to look like old bronze with a lot of patina?

  @MaryStLouis I just made an order (rather a costly one)...to modern master paint. It addition to my "project", I might try using it on canvas too.since I'm teaching myself to paint with acrylics. "you done good"

  @PainterNoni I was asked to participate in a recent Modern Masters challenge and chose to use a metallic paint rather than one of these products. If their metal effects paint is anything like their metallic paint you'll be very happy. It went on the little desk I painted like butter, so smooth and with great coverage. Good luck!

They make a oil rubbed bronze spray paint by rustoleum.sold at any big box store

Although my question has been resolved, I still enjoy different answer. It is funny that we want to paint wood to look like it's metal. We want to paint "non-wood" to look like it's wood. I love it!
