Z on Sep 14, 2015Here's a similar kitchen in white with peninsula painted a darker shade of the wall color. If you get me examples of your colors, I'll see what I can do.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Sep 14, 2015When I renovated my kitchen two years ago I took bits and pieces from magazines websites etc. Basically I had some what of an idea because my existing kitchen did have enough usable cabinet space. Maybe start with what issues you have.Helpful Reply

Debi53 on Sep 14, 2015My kitchen was very outdated when we bought our house. We took out two walls, had an island built, and had new doors built for the old cabinets. We painted the cabinets a warm cream & the island a deep grey. The counters are the same for both the island & cream cabinets. The grey/cream may not be your color choice, but at least you can get an idea of what a color contrast looks like. Best of luck & go for what you like & want. Remember that the key to a good paint job, particularly on kitchen cabinets, is all in the prep work.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Sep 14, 2015In my opinion that will decide if the kitchen is facing any other part of the house. For example my kitchen is open with a half wall to my den.Helpful Reply

Jonnie Hammon on Sep 15, 2015Obviously you want it to stand out, try covering it with printable wallpaper, then paint it. Paint it with a good primer, before adding the wallpaper, so that if you choose at a later date to change it, it will be easier to remove, and with Lee's effort, and possible damage. A complimentary color, will let it stand out, without it standing out too much. If you are bold, a contrasting color, will make a more dramatic statement. The raised design on the wallpaper will make a unique statement. Enjoy the subtle, or the bold, whichever you choose.😁Helpful Reply

Ellen DeVilbiss on Sep 15, 2015I understand the desire for a 2 color approach, and have 2 suggestions. First, consider doing all the base cabinets in a different color than the upper cabinets. Doing just the peninsula might look a little off, but all of them is quite common. Say white uppers and dark gray bases. The second idea is to do just the side and back of the peninsula in a different, accent color. These areas have no doors to give them any detail so I like @Jonnie Hammon's idea for this area. Do one or both of these for a major change.Helpful Reply

Johnchip on Sep 15, 2015Go with a satin black then the countertop will 'float' and the black will match your appliance fronts. With so much white balck is aobut your only option any colour will get very tiring sooner than later.Helpful Reply

Johnchip on Sep 15, 2015Another option is with so much wood, paint high gloss white then vertical stripes of the wood colour or actual strips of the wood in the same stain.Helpful Reply

Parle on Sep 15, 2015Hi - I like your kitchen - it's huge! Sherwin-Williams website has a color visualizer where you upload your kitchen photo and then have a huge palette of colors to paint with. After you get all your colors in order, some options for your peninsula could either be paint or tin tiles - faux or otherwise - and even gelcoat tiles would could play off a backsplash. Gelcoat tiles come in endless colors and patterns, super easy to install AND remove if you get bored with it plus easy to clean. If you've not seen them, go to your big box home improvement stores - they look just like glass tiles and might be what you're looking for. Good luck and hope you post your after photos.Helpful Reply

Anna on Sep 15, 2015Google "two toned cabinets" and you should get a few hits. Houzz.com is good. But I don't think I have ever seen just the peninsula in a different color.Helpful Reply
