water Based over oil based will not work well. The water base will simply peel up.
Hi there, I've been using oil based stains for years and never had any trouble sealing them with poly acrylic. I always wipe the piece down thoroughly after staining and let it dry for at least two days before applying my sealant. I usually do at least two coats and have never had any problems
