There is no top coat on the dressers. They are 34 years old with a few water glass marks...im just tired of the orange color...i was gonna sand it lightly with fine steel wool and then stain.

I would test it first on a hidden part of your dresser to make sure the orange color does not bleed through. If you use stain, you will also have to get rid of the water marks as they will still show through unless you are using an opaque stain. Stain is quirky and works differently than paint.

Teak is a tricky wood. You could try a little vaseline on the marks. Let set several hours, wipe off thoroughly. depending upon how old they are sometimes the Vaseline will pull them to the surface. if you decide to restain definitely agree try hidden spot first
