Cricut Explorer vs. Silhouette Cameo

I plan to buy either a Cricut or a Silhouette machine. I mainly want to do stencils and monogram decals. Does anyone have either machine? Which machine should I purchase?

I recently bought a Silhouette. I was so excited. The loading with their instructions was easy to install. From there, tanked. Can't get the Cricut to talk with my computer. No instructions on their site. Nothing on line, except complaints about the same problems. My excitement has become disappointment. But I'm going to get it to work somehow!!

Just noticed I misspelled "Silhouette". Oops

There is a TON of information about this if you Google "differences between Silhouette and Cricut". Lots of reviews of each machine. Probably have better luck there than on this site :)

No problem. Just couldn't figure out if you had used both machines.

I have been wondering about the difference, also. I have researched both, and it seems Silhouette is more popular. Since there is no where to buy either brand where I live, guess I will keep dreaming anyway!

@C_ann_g I will order one if I can ever decide which one to order. Thanks!

They are building a Hobby Lobby here, but darn, can't use the 40% off coupon on these!

@C_ann_g We have a Hobby Lobby. Never thought to check there, but I will now. Thanks for the idea.

I just got a Cricut. Just started playing around and bought a bunch of vinyl. Haven't gotten the layered projects yet. Did this the first hour for my mug. I didn't realize that most of the designs you have to pay like .66 cents each for. Anyway....it was a birthday gift that I asked for....hope I end up using it more. I just hate reading directions. Lol
