I PAINTED THE ITEM WITH CHALK PAINT AND STARTED USING THE DARK WAX. IT IS TOO MUCH. I SHOULD HAVE USED CLEAR WAX FIRST. CAN I JUST PAINT OVER IT WITH CHALK PAINT, CLEAR WAX AND THEN USE THE DARK WAX TO ACCENT?

You might be able to remove some of the dark wax by rubbing over it with clear wax. Especially if it hasn't been very long since you put the dark wax on. Yes...always start with the clear wax first when using chalk paint--then apply your dark wax. You will find if you do that you can remove any excess dark wax much more easily. You can also use some mineral spirits to get some of the dark wax off. Just dampen a rag and start rubbing. Here is a website that explains how to do it. http://homeguides.sfgate.com/remove-wax-paste-furniture-damaging-polyurethane-92160.html Good Luck and I hope it turns out ok for you!
