  • Whatever you end up choosing, make sure it coordinates with adjoining rooms. A pale lemon yellow could be pretty. I am partial to a pale sky blue.

Happy color, yes! Although it should flow with rest of home if it is only seen by the family and not company then go with whatever makes you happy. I wouldgo with a green and if you have ever seen any thing by me I love Sherwin Williams paint. I do not get any money from them. I love the organic green. Hallways in most homes are narrow and dark and well dreary. So I'm so glad that you want to express yourself. But please ask yourself if it will be to much for you if your bedrooms are a calm neutral color. I mean to be honest a very dominant color to then go into a neutral just doesn't seem practical. If this is the only place that you will have a happy color (why) then it doesn't make much sense. Your entire home should be a happy place for you, since you pay the mortgage. Why limit yourself? Express yourself throughout your home. If you just want to dip your toe to see if you can do rest of home then pick an object in your home that makes you smile every time you look at it and use that color. When I picked organic green,I began to see that I must really love the color cause my trench coat and my tablet case and cooking utensils were in this color. I picked it cause I saw it on pinterest and loved the wall and my painter found it for me. I didn't make conception at all but I have found it throughout my home in all sorts of accessories. Bizarre right, yet I love it without realizing that I really love it. Anyway I just think that a person's home should be their happy place and if company comes over and doesn't get it then they either don't know you or are stuck in the box of conformity and have neutral homes, not that some people like that so that their accessories really show up and out. Nothing wrong with that at all and some people with high stress jobs also like the calming effect of those colors so everyone has their taste and as long as they are happy then that's all that matters.

Start with your bedroom for yourself, and the hallway. Whites, wow they can be really nice if they are different shades and finishes. I think of white as a color cause depending on gloss matte or flat the same color reflects differently. Oh ,I'mso happy you liked it,it comes from the heart and from trying to conform and realizing that we pay for our home and we live in it every day so we should love it every day and if someone that we have over doesn't like it well they don't pay my mortgage and I guess they just don't really know me. So have fun! All the possibilities, oh you will have fun. Work but fun,and satisfying.

I too vote for yellow or blue, but I'm partial to yellow.

My last two houses have had a pale yellow and a light green in the hallways. The green is very relaxing and calming. The yellow, though light, brightened up the hall and stairwell. A light aqua is another great color for halls If I were you, I'd go to the paint store and get a bunch of sample cards. Pick out the colors you still like when standing in the hallway. Tape them to the walls and walk past them all times of day since light from the rooms will change. Remove the ones you don't want, until you have just a couple. Get pint samples of these colors and paint them on different spots in the hall. And eliminate them the same way you did before. Good luck and have fun playing with colors.
