Opinions on painted red furniture
Anyway, I have a wood chair I want to paint the same way. I have bought a really nice red and white fabric for the back and seat. What I'm wondering is if red is a semi popular color for furniture? I like the colonial darker red myself.
All opinions welcome, especially if you resale your projects.
I'll try and get pictures of the little converted cabinet. I'm looking for the hinges and door knob that I put in a safe place but can't remember where that safe place is. (I need more plastic coffee cans so I can label them)

William on Jul 27, 2016No problem with red. As long as it isn't fire engine red. Slightly dark or muted shade looks good. Love your idea of turquoise for the interior.Helpful Reply

Kathy Stetts on Jul 27, 2016You could paint it red, let it dry then thin black paint with water and rub on and wipe off the black for a distressed/vintage look.Helpful Reply

KathyJb on Jul 27, 2016Here is the cabinet. I just ordered a ruby red glass cabinet knob for it. I may just keep it. :D the door is in the house. I want to take it with me tomorrow to see what size trim I need for it.Helpful Reply

Pamela Robertson Pullmann on Jul 28, 2016When I see red chairs, etc I always think of the 1950's diner look. So, depending on your style, it could work just fine - or not. Lol. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Charly on Jul 28, 2016I have to ask "what do you care what anyone else thinks"? Do it the way YOU like. Because I for one hate painted furniture of any kind. And my favorite color is red! Just not on furniture. I like the wood furniture in natural oak, pine, cherry, maple, etc. And I have no problem mixing the woods in any given room. When you go into a forest you don't always see just one kind of tree unless it was purposely planted that way and not as God intended, all the beautiful woods mixed. Anyway, do what you like, don't worry about what I think.Helpful Reply

Cha6378086 on Jul 28, 2016I have a pie safe in my kitchen that is painted fire engine red. I love it for it's spot of color. I think whatever you like is the way you should go. People tell me they love it and I have no idea if it is popular. Have fun and good luck.Helpful Reply

Susan on Jul 28, 2016I'm with Pamela Robertson Pullman but I will go so far as to say I can't see bright red in anything other than a retro kitchen from a retail perspective. But a lot depends on your fabric. I'm sure you have a vision lol!Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Jul 29, 2016Red is a tricky color, because if you paint it in white it will turn pink. Red is also a pigment, so anytime I do red I paint it over a dark color.Helpful Reply

Renee on Jul 29, 2016Im sorry but I have to agree with Papoose03! If anything, I would it turn patina before just painting it, with that, you can use blue and green to achieve that. Look it up & you will find the direction to do so. Best WishesHelpful Reply
