Chalkboard paint is usually green or black for you to write a message/list, or for kids to draw on with chalk that can be erased using an eraser/rag.

Chalk paint is paint with plaster of paris or baking soda added to it that gives a tough paint you can distress, used especially to refinish old furniture pieces or cabinets. You can make it yourself or buy a commercial brand.

Many like it also cause it requires no prepping like priming.

chalk paint is regular paint with plaster (or chalk) mixed in to give it a different texture and make it dry faster. Often used for distressed type finishes. Chalkboard paint is paint that creates a surface that you can write on with chalk. Chalk paint can be store bought or homemade, in every color of the rainbow. Chalkboard paint is most often black, green or blue... just like the blackboards we used to have in school.
