An oil based primer first and 2 coats of semi-gloss paint worked really well in our starter home several years back.Helpful Reply -

Clean well with TSP. Cleaning I the important part as nothing will stick to grease. Sand. Good primer . Then semi gloss paint.Helpful Reply -
