Paint exposed fireplace flue?

I was thinking of painting my f'place flue. However, I recently heard I won't be able to do it because there is no fire safe paint, only heat safe. Is that true? Also, is it safe to paint the brass on my dated f'place doors? Thank you.

There is stove pipe paint made specifically for painting stove pipe. Can handle from 1000 to 2000 degrees. Yes you can paint the brass. Many people had complete brass doors and painted them. Use the high heat paint on them.https://www.amazon.com/Duravent-High-Temperature-Paint-Stove/dp/B006BKLKW0 -

how about building a box around the pipe. Paint the inside with high heat paint. Then you can paint the wood. -
