Buy a couple (maybe more) of those flexible, plastic cutting mats and put between the base board and your flooring. Put on some knee pads and paint away! Also, if you can trick, I mean, CONVINCE, your kids into helping, they have fun doing this.

Be sure to wipe the surfaces down well. Sand any rough areas. Prime any bare wood. I use an old cardboard box, with some news paper in the bottom. I out all my supplies in the box. That way as I paint, and scoot along, I can just push the box.

If you do not want to remove them the easiest method would be to put painters tape on the wall at the top if the color is different. If you find a thin piece of cardboard you can place it under the baseboard as you move along while painting. You will have more control with a good quality brush.

Hi Beth. Clean the base boards first. Then I would prime them and repaint. Good Luck!

Clean them, use tape and mask them off and repaint with a good scrubable paint.

Dust and vacuum them, then wash them down well. Allow to dry. Caulk any seams that are open and sand any scratches or nicks. Wipe them down well again, let them dry. Tape the wall so the paint doesn't get on that, then prime and paint.
