If the water is coming in from a floor drain find a piece of PVC about 3 feet long and wide enough that it will fit snuggly in the drain. Use plumbers goop to seal it. The water will have to rise higher to flood the basement. If it's coming in through a wall leak, seal bricks to each other and the floor in a circle around the furnace. It will solve your two inches of water temporarily but you need to find and solve the source of your water issue.
