Dishwasher lock light flashing, won't do anything...

Help, my dishwasher lock light keeps blinking, but the dishwasher won't start...I thought that I might try to afford a new one, but even the cheapest ones, with the installation price makes them out of my budget. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this problem, please?

Have you tried topping up the salt and rinse aid.Mine was flashing and couldn't figure it out as i use an all in one tablet But as soon as i filled everything up the dishwasher worked again....worth a try!!

try this. Find out which circuit breaker turns it off. Turn off the breaker and turn it back on in about 10 seconds. See if it works?

You've probably tried the obvious solutions, but just in case: check your owner's manual for troubleshooting; google your manufacturer's homepage and your model for troubleshooting. Good luck!

If the light is flashing it is not a circuit breaker/house electrical problem, it is in the unit itself. I agree to fill all traps and things inside first and give it a try, also make sure it is fully closing and properly. Scrub/sand/Clean all contact points. . I have a feeling this is a transformer or small electric part inside. Call a dishwasher repair man. Explain your problem exactly so he is prepared. Should not cost you more than $50.(Most 'used appliance' men can do this, as they repair pieces for a living. check yellow pages and Craigs List, etc) If nothing else and it has died, he can get you a great replacement for half the cost, instal for free, and likely will guarantee it.

If you put your brand and model number and describe problem into a Google search, you will often find the answer to the problem. Sometimes you can even find You Tube videos on how to fix it. My husband has fixed two Bosch dishwashers and a Fisher-Paykel dryer this way. I might be a control board that is needed. They cost about $120 for the part.

If the door still opens, and isn't locked, it sounds like a timer problem, you may have to reset the timer, or as another stated, turn the breaker off for a while, then turn it back on.. The timer should rest on its own.. Hope this helped... R

Ours does this and we have to push in the start button and hold for about 5 seconds and it will reset it.

We live in the country where lime and general 'bits' collect and block the filter attached to the outside water pipe. When the dishwasher has a fit like yours, that is usually the problem and a quick clean sorts it out. We need to clean monthly with our water.

Try unplugging it and eating a couple minutes to plug it back in. It may just clear itself and fix it problem. My oven door locked with the door open and that is what the repairman told us to do and it worked.

Ha, guess I should proofread. You can eat during those couple of minutes but don't have to!!

Hold down the lock button for a few seconds. Should go off.

Mine did this too. If your LOK doesn’t go away, press the mode it is under. Mine LOC was below steam button. I pressed my steam setting for a few seconds and it became unlocked. Good luck, hope this works for you too
