My kitchen is plaster/lathes. Is off-white beadboard panels too much?

Trixie63 on Jul 21, 2015I think it might look like your kitchen was inside a box. What about wainscoting height on walls and then styrofoam or metal pieces glued to ceiling that looks like old tin. If you do the whole kitchen perhaps painting ceiling a light blue or other color would make it look like a cool old porch? Just brainstorming. Good luck with your project!Helpful Reply

Mellori on Jul 21, 2015My house is like this. I have used the white beadboard on walls and Styrofoam ceiling tiles. I've also used the mini tiles you can put on all by yourself. There is no way to fix our old walls except remove them, put in insulation and sheetrock. Not happening here!! So a fresh coat of paint and a few special touches make it lovely to me. Have fun!!Helpful Reply

Sandy on Jul 22, 2015Mellori, thank you for your response! Did you put your bead board from floor to ceiling or chair rail height? Yes, I'm plaster and lathes and trying to keep as much originality as I can. I have saved every piece of anything that has been removed right down to the screws and nails. Definitely a fresh coat of paint would be a great improvement. Thanks for your suggestions! SandyHelpful Reply
