Board and Batten over brick

Question

I want to hang board and batten over my half brick wall. How would anyone suggest I attach some sort of anchor boards so I can cover the brick with a 4 foot white board, then hang trim on top of that. Thanks.

You simply need to fasten sleepers on the brick wall. Small 1x3 boards fastened using a screw and plastic anchor into the mortar of the brick, not the brick. Will provide enough fastening to hold any paneling on along with chair rail board on top or base along the bottom. Fasten every 10 inches apart on center and along the top and bottom edge. By fastening into the mortar, if you ever decide to remove and go back to brick, the mortar can be easily patched without any damage to the brick surface. Also its a whole lot easier to drill into.

Woodbridge has the right idea, plus they can be nailed to brick with a Remington Nailer from a home center (think the basic one that you just hit with a hammer is around $20, plus nails and loads) This way there is No drilling and anchors. Goes Real Quick.
