How can I fix a hole where stove pipe use to be?

Buy a medallion or a piece of tin ceiling tile put a frame on it and hang -

There are actually covers made for that. Look for flue hole covers. Round metal with wire "arms that hold it in place. Usually white, black or brown but you can always paint.- See 1 previous

Use you choice of pictures, and then you can change this very often, as you desire. To close off this area, the local hardware store would have a cap or a plate that you can put there, to cover it, tho I like the pic idea, more. Best wishes, J.
